Last Spring I had the privilege of recreating a truly stunning bouquet loaded with Spring's freshest blooms.

Andrew contacted me well before their October anniversary hoping that I would recreate their wedding flowers for another special occasion—the arrival of their first child. What a great way to celebrate!

Perhaps one of the happiest couples I’ve worked with so far just so happen to be local Richmonders like myself: Norman and Candice! Their wedding was remarkable (I know because Norman sent me a link to their whole album!). And after reveling in the beauty and joy of the event itself, I finally focused on the florals—which did not disappoint.

Last Spring I had the honor of recreating a gorgeous red rose bouquet for Rob and Lauren's first Anniversary, so I figured I’d share it today. After all, what's more representative of Valentine’s Day than a giant bunch of red roses?

I sat down yesterday morning with the goal of prepping a few new posts and chipping away at the backlog of projects I've been itching to share. I've dug myself into quite the hole—something I'm not going to let happen again this year! But before I continue working my way through that list, I decided it is more important to celebrate a solid year's worth of work!

Susan contacted in the Spring asking for my help in recreating her wedding bouquet for her and her husband's upcoming 20th anniversary. I was delighted to help with such a special occasion, even more so after we chatted and I learned that she wanted to make things even more fun by updating the design a bit. Why not?

Earlier this summer I worked on what is quite possibly my most vivid, and definitely my most enhanced recreation yet. I'm not sure that one single petal went into this piece without being painted, inked, or hand-detailed in some way. The labor was intense, but the results were insanely beautiful. Let's dig in! 

Back in June, when Dave emailed me the photos of his wife's wedding bouquet, I was to get over the fact that peony season had come and gone in Virginia already. Luckily their season lasts much longer in Maine though—and Allison made sure to take full advantage of them for her wedding!

Last month I had the pleasure of helping Nick and Adrienne celebrate their first anniversary together, despite the fact they'd be spending it temporarily apart from one another. 

Had Santolo sent me the photos of his wife Daryll's bouquet one year ago, I might have been too intimidated to take on the challenge. At first glance this piece seemed like it was an armload of peonies—my hands practically make these on their own anymore! But once I got past all of that fluffy goodness, I discovered the real gems hidden in the details: succulents, ferns, and lilacs. This one was going to be fun!

When it came time to work on Andrew's first-anniversary gift for his wife Kelsey, I breathed a little sigh of relief. There was only one type of flower on my project list—and only five stems—no problem!

Hello again! I can't believe it's been more than a month since my last post. Made more embarrassing by the fact that I assumed after Mother's Day I'd have all sorts of time to catch up on the posts I had planned—not so much!

In theory, I'm a fan of less is more. In execution—well, let's say I'm less of a fan. Especially when it comes to color. As my Mother's Day collection highlights, when I'm left to my own devices, I'll find a way to work in at least 2 or 3 (or 10) more hues whenever I can. And I'm ok with it! 

I may have needed to take a bit of a hiatus from the blog to handle Mother's Day, but that doesn't mean I took a break from custom orders—and certainly not creating anniversary bouquets. If the start of this year is any indication, these are quickly becoming my most-frequently requested projects. And I couldn't be more thrilled about that!

Late last year I got a submission through my "Challenge Me" form for a particularly interesting flower that came with a fun little intro from the sender. Charlotte and her sister had started a company doing wedding florals, and have always wanted to grow the Himalayan Poppy, but can't in their climate. I then realized that their flower shop, Blossom + Vine, is in Gaithersburg, Maryland—the same town that my college roommate lives in and where I occasionally visit. Never missing the opportunity to make friends with other flower people, we exchanged a few more emails back and forth, and I promised to connect the next time I was in the area.

Projects like Sean and Candice's Paperversary bouquet are one of the many reasons why I'm so glad I started making paper flowers. Sean initially contacted me while deployed, in search of flowers to send his wife for their first anniversary. After chatting back and forth, we worked out a plan for me to ship her an arrangement to enjoy while he was away, and at the same time, I got to work creating this replica for him to give to her at Christmas.
